Fefig Bulletin No. 60 – March 2025

by | Apr 14, 2025

We’d like to share with you the latest news and achievements from the past few months.
Check out the highlights:

Strategic Coordination in Florianópolis

The year began with a lot of coordination and expansion of our services

In January, our superintendent traveled to Florianópolis for strategic meetings with the Executive Board of GRANFPOLIS and the new municipal administrators. We visited 9 municipalities (all with new managers), and all those visited confirmed the continuation of the partnership. A meeting was held with the entire Education Council, which included 20 of the 22 municipalities that make up the region. Early Childhood Education and Literacy were on the agenda!

Partnership Signed in Corumbá – Mato Grosso do Sul

In February, our superintendent traveled to the municipality of Miranda, in Mato Grosso do Sul, for a strategic meeting with the mayors and secretaries of education from the municipalities of Corumbá, Miranda, and Aquidauana. During the meeting, the FEFIG Institute and the Circuito 360 Program—Literacy Management were presented, and a partnership was proposed to the three municipalities. Corumbá decided to enter into the partnership, and we have already begun work that will benefit the approximately 7,000 students enrolled in the municipality’s 17 urban schools. We are immensely grateful to the Acaia Pantanal Institute, which is the enabling partner in this initiative!

Priscila Cruz on the Fefig Board

Priscila Cruz has accepted the invitation to serve as our new board member. Our Board of Directors is greatly strengthened by the addition of Priscila Cruz, a leading figure in education and founder of Todos pela Educação. We are immensely grateful to Priscila for accepting our president’s invitation, and we are excited about all the contributions and connections this important board member will bring to the FEFIG Institute, further enhancing our strategy and our initiatives.

New Centers and Technical Support

Expansion of Services: We began 2025 by formally expanding our services to three new hubs: Corumbá in Mato Grosso do Sul; Livramento de Nossa Senhora in Bahia, comprising four municipalities and approximately 4,500 students; and Valença do Piauí, comprising four municipalities and approximately 2,500 students. To strengthen our team of technical agents, we welcomed Herton Vieira, who has extensive experience in managing municipal education networks and will be responsible for overseeing the new hub.

Continuity at the Active Hubs

We have resumed our activities in the regions of Rio Grande do Norte, Serra da Capivara (Piauí), Tocantins, Santa Catarina, and Caculé (Bahia). In all regions, we maintained our partnership in over 95% of partner municipalities, even with changes in administration and the appointment of new secretaries and technical teams. This is the FEFIG Institute working to ensure the continuity of public policies, so that education policies are state-level policies rather than government-specific ones.

We continue to work to transform lives and promote quality education!
