We’re sharing a SPECIAL EDITION with you! – Check out the highlights:

Partnership with GRANFPOLIS

We are excited to share the latest news about our partnership with the Association of Municipalities of the Greater Florianópolis Region (GRANFPOLIS), an alliance that is transforming education in 22 municipalities in the Florianópolis metropolitan area!

Since 2021, the Fefig Institute has been operating in the region through the Literacy Management Program, which directly benefits 6,451 students in grades 1 through 5 of elementary school across 12 municipalities. Recently, we expanded our operations with the Early Childhood Education Quality Improvement Program, serving 14 municipalities, 140 schools, and impacting 16,900 students aged 0 to 6.

Today, our projects reach a total of 14 municipalities and 23,351 students in the Greater Florianópolis area!

Meeting with the Executive Board of GRANFPOLIS (Visits and Strategic Meetings)

Our Executive Superintendent, Bartholomeu Eneias Gomes da Silva, along with technical officer Risália Calasans and GRANFPOLIS education advisor Bianca Silveira da Rosa, held an important meeting with Marius Bagnati, Executive Director of GRANFPOLIS, Gilberto Brasil, and the Administrative and Financial Director. The meeting highlighted the importance of GRANFPOLIS as a partner in political coordination with mayors, helping to overcome the challenges faced by municipal early childhood education and early years networks.

Development of Guidelines for the 1st Strategic Plan for Early Childhood Education (Workshops and Planning)

On October 24 and 25, secretaries of education and early childhood education coordinators from the municipalities of Águas Mornas, Anitápolis, Antônio Carlos, Biguaçu, Garopaba, Paulo Lopes, Palhoça, Rancho Queimado, São Pedro de Alcântara, Tijucas, São Bonifácio, and Santo Amaro da Imperatriz met with our team and the education advisory staff to align the guidelines that will guide the development of a strategic plan aimed at improving the quality of Early Childhood Education in the municipalities of the Greater Florianópolis Region. Based on the exercises conducted during these sessions, each municipality will undertake an individual reflective process to identify the priorities it considers most important for the dimensions of Care and Safety and Learning in Early Childhood Education. The goal is that by the end of November, we will have a first systematized version of our 1st Strategic Plan for the Quality of Early Childhood Education in the municipalities of Greater Florianópolis.

Data Analysis and Evaluation of the Literacy and Early Childhood Education Program

As part of our program monitoring efforts, we visited Paulo Lopes and Santo Amaro da Imperatriz. Accompanied by GRANFPOLIS’s education advisor, our team discussed data from the Literacy Management Program, identifying achievements and challenges in literacy. We also shared the initial impacts of the Early Childhood Education Improvement Program on pedagogical quality, offering a new perspective on teaching practices in the early years of schooling.

Appearance on the “Região em Destaque” Podcast

To end the month on a high note, our superintendent appeared on the “Região em Destaque” podcast, where he spoke with journalist Maria Helena about the progress of the Fefig Institute’s programs in early childhood education and literacy.

Among the topics covered, the challenges facing education in the region, the impact of our programs on IDEB scores, and the difference between Comprehensive Education and Full-Time Education stand out.
