Delivery of eyeglasses from the "Vision at School" Project in Ituverava, São Paulo

We attended the opening ceremony for the week-long event to distribute eyeglasses to children and teenagers in Ituverava.

In total, approximately 2,450 students were screened. Of these, 524 were identified as needing to see an ophthalmologist, and of this group, 434 required eyeglasses, which were donated free of charge by the Fefig Institute.

It is worth noting the commitment and dedication of the team at the Ituverava Municipal Department of Education, which achieved an 81% participation rate—the highest among all our partners in this project so far!

Coordination Meeting with the Santo André Municipal Network

We have officially launched our partnership with the Santo André Municipal Education Network, in collaboration with Parceiros da Educação.

On August 29, we held a Goal-Setting Committee meeting attended by Municipal Secretary of Education Almir Roberto Cicote and his team from the Elementary Education Directorate, as well as the team from Parceiros da Educação (Rafael Machiarverni and Alessandra Silva). It was a great discussion, during which we agreed on the goals for this year of joint efforts. Through this partnership, we are reaching 24,002 students and 1,084 teachers in 65 schools.

INAPI Data Reports

Our partners at the Laboratory for Studies and Research in Social Economics (LEPES/USP) have completed the analysis of data from the Early Childhood Learning Assessment Tool (INAPI), which was administered in the Municipal Early Childhood Education Network of Patos as part of our partnership in the Systemic Improvement Program (PAS).

The goal is to gather data on typical aspects of learning and development among preschool-aged children, for use on a large scale, in close alignment with the National Common Core Curriculum (BNCC). Based on INAPI, it is possible to identify learning acquisition and development in preschool, as well as to assess educational inequalities.

The Fefig Institute has joined GIFE

On August 23, we were informed that the Governance Council of GIFE—the Group of Institutes, Foundations, and Companies—had approved the membership of the Fefig Institute. GIFE is an association of private social investors in Brazil, including institutes, foundations, family funds, independent corporate entities, and companies.

Founded as an informal group in 1989, GIFE was established as a nonprofit organization in 1995. Since then, it has become a leading authority in Brazil on the topic of private social investment. It currently has a network of more than 160 members who, collectively, contributed R$5.3 billion in social investment in 2020, according to data from the GIFE Census. The organization defines private social investment as the voluntary transfer of private funds in a planned, monitored, and systematic manner to social, environmental, cultural, and scientific projects or organizations of public interest. This is a major step forward in our process of institutional strengthening and coordination!
