Our Projects

Every project at the Fefig Institute is part of a larger effort that drives a single purpose:
Transforming public education across Brazil!

We develop and implement projects and programs that strengthen public education policies—from early childhood to literacy, from health to a culture of giving.
Each project is based on in-depth technical analysis and is underpinned by evidence, efficient management, and strategic partnerships.
We have a single purpose: to ensure that every child has access to a quality education at the right age and in environments that foster holistic development.

Early Childhood

Early Childhood Education Improvement Program

The Early Childhood Education Improvement Program aims to improve the quality of education provided to children ages 0 to 5 by supporting public school systems in implementing sound, sustainable, and evidence-based educational policies.

It addresses all the factors that determine the quality of early childhood education: curriculum planning, infrastructure, teaching practices, school management, and family engagement.

Main components:

  • Pact for Quality in Early Childhood Education, signed with the municipal departments;
  • Technical assessment (EAPI and INAPI) to identify quality indicators and guide improvements;
  • Clarity regarding roles and responsibilities among schools, administrators, and technical staff;
  • Continuing education for teachers and administrators;
  • Ongoing monitoring of results and progress.

Principles:

  • Sustainability: cost-effective solutions tailored to local conditions.
  • Transparency: mechanisms for external oversight and active family participation.

Real impact:
In Patos (PB), the program has transformed the city into a national model, recognized as the “City of Early Childhood.”
In Santa Catarina, the program’s implementation has led to improvements in planning, support services, and school management, resulting in more structured and inclusive environments.

What drives us: making early childhood education a public priority by promoting high-quality practices and networks capable of ensuring children’s holistic development.

Literacy

1 LITERACY MANAGEMENT

The Literacy Management project is the Fefig Institute’s flagship initiative, aimed at strengthening public policies and ensuring that all children become literate at the appropriate age.

The program works in partnership with municipal departments of education, combining teacher training, educational management, and data monitoring to transform teaching practices and learning outcomes.

How it works:

  1. Training: committees and meetings with coordinators, principals, and teachers, encouraging shared responsibility for literacy.
  2. Data management: use of platforms and dashboards (Power BI) that provide monthly reports on the number of literate and illiterate students.
  3. Technical support: ongoing guidance for school teams and administrative offices to turn data into concrete actions.

Financing models:

  • Directly: through sponsors and institutional partners.
  • Through the Rouanet Law: with tax incentives that allow companies and individuals to support the project and generate transparent social impact.

2024 Results:

  • 71% of children are literate in Portuguese.
  • 70% literate in mathematics (grades 1–5).
    These averages exceed the state average and reflect the technical commitment of the supported school districts.

What drives us: strengthening literacy as an essential public policy, ensuring that every child learns at the right time and with equity.

2 FOSTERING LITERACY

"Cultivating Literacy " is a cultural extension of the Fefig Institute's literacy program, funded through the Rouanet Law.
Its goal is to encourage reading and democratize access to culture in public schools.

The initiative promotes:

  • Distribution of supplementary educational materials curated by experts;
  • Cultural activities and reading workshops;
  • Artistic events and literary circles to strengthen the bond between children, schools, and the community.

More than just a supplementary project, Culturando enhances the Literacy Management program, transforming reading into an enjoyable, everyday, and social experience.

What drives us: combining culture, art, and reading with literacy to foster critical, creative readers who are passionate about learning.

Health and Learning

Vision at School

The " Vision in Schools " program integrates health and education, promoting eye care and prevention among public school students —a key factor in academic performance.

The program conducts eye screenings and consultations right in the schools, at no cost to families.
Children who are prescribed glasses receive them immediately, ensuring quick and barrier-free access.

Impact 2018–2024:

  • 18,473 students served
  • 12,554 screenings performed
  • 4,967 visits
  • 3,161 pairs of glasses donated

What drives us: breaking down invisible barriers to learning, ensuring that every child can see clearly—and, as a result, learn better.

– Strategic Partnerships

Education Partners – Municipal Network Program

The Fefig Institute works in partnership with Parceiros da Educação to implement the Municipal Networks Program (PRM), which strengthens the governance and educational management of municipal education departments.

The focus is on turning best practices into permanent public policies, supporting municipalities in establishing effective and sustainable educational strategies.

Highlights of the performance:

  • Participation in management forums and technical committees;
  • Support in developing indicators and action plans;
  • Training of educational leaders and dissemination of evidence-based methodologies.

Source:
The program is currently active in municipalities such as Ituverava and Santo André (SP), benefiting more than 25,000 students and 1,900 teachers.

What drives us: to enhance the management capacity of public school systems, ensuring continuity, scalability, and sustainable outcomes in education.

– Philanthropy and Social Engagement

CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS: ALL FOR ALL

" Filantrópicos: Todos por todos " is a philanthropic and educational program resulting from a partnership between the Fefig Institute and Turma do Jiló, created to inspire young people to engage in active citizenship and foster a culture of giving.

Aimed at middle and high school students, the project offers training, hands-on activities, and practical experiences that combine theory, empathy, and social action.

Methodology:

  • Events on social causes and citizenship;
  • Partnerships with community organizations;
  • Projects developed within schools, with youth taking the lead.

Goal: to expand to 40 schools, training advocates for a culture of giving and influencing public policy to include the topic in school curricula.

What drives us: to foster a sense of solidarity among the younger generations and to show that donating time, talent, and resources is also a way to shape the future.
