A new Fefig Institute in 2023

by | Dec. 25, 2022

2022 was a year of transformation at the Fefig Institute. The move to our own headquarters, the creation of a new communications and fundraising department, and the establishment of an administrative department reflect the institute’s institutional reorganization, now featuring an even more modern visual identity that embodies our renewal.

In addition, we are in the final stages of establishing our Board of Directors, which will include leading professionals in their respective fields who will undoubtedly lend even greater credibility to our initiatives. We will soon announce the official composition of this important institutional body.

On this journey, we remain steadfast in our commitment to expanding the Fefig methodology—which focuses on scalability, sustainability, and impact—to improve the quality of education for children and adolescents in Brazil.

There are now more than 70,000 students, 4,710 teachers, and 1,131 school administrators across 640 schools in 50 Brazilian municipalities. None of this would be possible without the support of all of you.

In this new year, we want to make an even greater impact and bring about lasting social change. Will you join us?

Highlights of the Year | Education

  • We formalized a partnership with the São Roque City Government through the city’s Department of Education and Culture. Also in São Paulo, we formalized a partnership with the city of Ituverava; both partnerships were aimed at implementing the Parceiros da Educação Municipal Network Program, which reached approximately 12,000 students in 30 schools.
  • Launch of two new hubs for the implementation of the Literacy Management Program: João Lisboa in Maranhão and Bahia, covering the municipalities of Caculé, Lagoa Real, Mortugaba, and Malhada de Pedras. With this expansion, the Literacy Management Program is now active in 44 municipalities, reaching nearly 14,000 students in 245 schools.
  • Progress in the assessment of the Municipal Early Childhood Education Network in Patos, Paraíba, in partnership with the Laboratory for Studies and Research in Social Economics (LEPES), benefiting approximately 1,000 children in 38 schools.
  • The “Vision at School” project was resumed, expanding specialized eye care services to more than 4,200 children in the municipal school systems of 11 municipalities in Tocantins and one in Maranhão. In São Paulo, a partnership with the Verter Institute made it possible to provide care to 185 students. Meanwhile, an agreement with the Rubem Cunha Foundation extended the project to 784 students at the Alexandre Ansaldo Mozzilli State School in the South Zone of São Paulo.

Highlights of the Year | Partnerships

  • We have strengthened our partnership with the Ayrton Senna Institute by signing a new addendum that allows us to implement a program focused on helping students in grades 6 through 9 catch up on their Portuguese and math studies.
  • In partnership with the Roberto Marinho Foundation and the consulting firm Conhecimento Social, we are moving forward with an assessment that is expected to identify pathways toward a strategic plan aimed at improving the quality of evening high school education.
  • In 2022, we met with Rodrigo Mendes and Lucas Silva from the Rodrigo Mendes Institute—a national leader in the inclusion of people with disabilities. Fefig received the Inclusive Education Seal, created by the institute for its partners in the cause
